Among Honduras’ eight indigenous tribes, the Lenca is the largest and they are known as the “poorest of the poor.” Intibuca has the largest concentration of Lenca in Honduras and coffee farmers in the area face huge challenges because of the remoteness and isolation of the villages, which makes getting their coffee to market extremely challenging.

Our Plans

In order to improve quality and sustainability of coffee farming, the CAFÉ team has established a relationship with Volcafe Way, a farmer support program provided by Volcafe, a world-wide coffee trader. Technical Assistance is made available on their demonstration farm, Finca Las Moras, in Siguatepeque, Honduras, where Jose and our producers learn best practice strategies for use in coffee production.
